Omen Campaign Stuff
Jul. 23rd, 2007 04:46 pmNot as much here as for the steampunk bit; my notes are mostly at home.
And hey, a lot of this has been covered in-MUSH. Speaking of which - do we want to have games there, over Skype, over AIM, over IRC...opinions, players?
Now. Game start stuff. You should all have your level 40 PCs ready; if anyone's having trouble, let me know and I'll try to help. Also, try PMing me regarding backstory stuff you want to discuss - though maybe not the MUSH. I can't auto-save logs there. AIM, MSN, and IRC are probably better options; someone (i.e. Rook) probably has contact info for me on each of those.
I plan on running a micro-session for each player. Possibly a combat, not sure yet - if so, it'll be an easy one. The point of the micro-session is either to get you onto Omen, or otherwise get you to the main town. Whose name I've forgotten. I'll dig it up. AFter that, we need to work out a time for sessions; is once a week agreeable to you guys?
Also, given your starting level, I'm considering a reduced EXP rate. Not by much, maybe 75% of normal. Means that you don't level overly quickly. Or, I could just keep standard EXP and not actively try to powerlevel you guys. Bad habit I got into last game I ran. Some of you can guess why.
Okay. A note about Omen - flying island, appears and disappears without warning. Casts a massive shadow - besides blotting out the sun, this shadow seems...dangerous, somehow. Animals flee. People can stand it, but there's a feeling of Something Wrong. You have to be rather...something to go up there. *Grin* Either bold, driven, curious, or obsessed with something.
As for how this meshes with Final Fantasy worlds in general...Omen has its own sources of mana. Magic will work there. However, Summoning Arts only work if you have a contract with a spirit either on Omen - and there aren't many of those, if any - or on the world Omen's currently 'visiting'. Given that it's completely random when and where Omen departs, Summoners and Callers are really better off just staying home.
Magic and other techs work just fine, though. How the adventurer uses them might vary - spellcasting through Draws, Materia use, and just sheer innate power all work fine. Not really something that can be spread around, though - for instance, Materia only seems to work when wielded by someone from Planet. Or, rather, it would if I were to use any of FF7. And I'm not. Bleeeeeh. (Bribery may change this if you /really/ want that place visited...)
So. Wandering island, bunch of adventurers and nasty sorts, those monsters in the wilderness, the ancient legacy of doom - sound fun enough yet?
Any questions from the audience?

Date: 2007-07-24 02:13 am (UTC)The land of Rassid has a troubled history. Civilizations rose and fell through the ages, their hubris destroying them. Ruins lie across the globe, beckoning those who dare to unlock the secrets of the past.
An endless cycle of destruction and rebirth. As civilization rises anew, a single frontier remains to be surpassed - the sky itself. Many have tried, and many have died, pursuing a means to take to the sky. It seemed as if nothing could rise above the earth.
And then Omen appeared.
A flying island. If it could be in the sky, then man could follow. After much difficulty, an unscrupulous man procured a rock from Omen - no one knows how. Drawing upon its power, he created a small craft to rise to the island.
And then some idiot landed on the controls.

I think this will be a lot of fun :) Also, I just told Deru that Niken's pretty much a
skillwhorejack of all trades since "she'd be the type to learn several different things if it benefits her monetarily" (yes i just quoted myself what the fuck) So if that helps!no subject

NOTE TO ALL: Language: Common transcends dimensions. A wizard did it.

Date: 2007-07-24 02:45 am (UTC)Uh, also, something about street performance. Deru just tossed escape artist at me (Escape skill + Acrobatics) among other things.
OH RIGHT I wrote this as a vague kind of thing in her sheet as a disad here have some:
__ Vulnerability (+2) [Toxin]
Niken's first encounter with a monster was a bad one, indeed; it struck with a blow that induced Poison status, exposing her inherent weakness to it and its cousin, Venom. Despite her tough exterior, she has a weak immune system. All toxic statuses used against Niken make her violently ill in addition to its meta effects (HP reduction). Knowing of this weakness, she is ill at ease around opponents that bear any resembalance to the monster of her past; what if they have similiar defense mechanisms?
i am basically tossing shit at you right now
oh oh and well if you need any more info about her mentor i'll be glad to give. he's the type who would push any debts or risky situations off on her somehow at least
