I never got far enough in NetHack to ascend, or, for that matter, even to figure out half of what's there, but it definitely is an interesting game, constantly being worked on and further given all sorts of new tweaks to deal with.
Also, have you seen Get Smart? I think Agent 86 was essentially the template for Inspector Gadget, just with some extra doodads.
